transitive verb
definition:  to transform (something) into another form, substance, or state.
example:  We can convert the sofa into a bed.
example:  The gas engine converts the gas into electrical power.

intransitive verb
definition:  to adopt new and fundamentally different beliefs or attitudes, especially religious or political.
example:  Before her marriage, she converted to Judaism.
