definition 1:  at or to a greater distance or extent; farther (comparative of “far”).
example:  We ran further today than we usually do.
example:  This new theory goes further than the others to explain these phenomena.

adjective
definition 1:  more distant or extended (comparative of “far”).
example:  
It’s a beautiful hotel, but it’s further from the beach than the other one.

definition 2:  more.
example:  If there are no further questions, we’ll end the discussion here.

transitive verb
definition:  to advance or help make progress.
